When Do You Need a FERI Certificate?

Which Documents Are Required for the D.R. of the Congo ECTN?

To obtain a FERI ECTN Certificate, four documents are required. If these documents are not prepared meticulously, the approval process for your certificate will be prolonged.

How Many Days Does It Take to Get the FERI Certificate?

The timing depends on your documentation. Initially, you must prepare all the required documents for submission.

Typically, the standard FERI approval process takes 5 or more working days, according to the Authority.

Penalties for Non-FERI Documented Cargoes

There are significant penalties for cargoes without a FERI Certificate. These penalties, known as demurrage fees, start at $2,500 and vary depending on your cargo volume. Additionally, you will be required to pay the FERI Certificate fee at customs clearance along with any demurrage fees. Note that this fee doubles daily along with the FERI Certificate fee.

Which Ports Require the ECTN Certificate in the Democratic Republic of the Congo?

The ports of Kinshasa, Port of Ango, Boma, Matadi, and Banana require the Fiche Electronique de Renseignement à l’Importation (FERI Certificate) ECTN document for cargoes. If your cargo is destined for these ports, obtaining the FERI is mandatory; otherwise, you will face demurrage fees as previously mentioned.
